TIA Full Form in Medical term is Transient Ischaemic Attack. Temporary stroke-like symptoms are called a (TIA). It typically only lasts a few minutes & has no long-term effects.

A transient ischemic attack (also known as a mini-stroke) can serve as a warning. Half of all strokes that occur after a TIA happen within a year of the initial occurrence.

A TIA can act as an early warning sign and an interventional window for a potential stroke.

TIAs don’t last more than a few minutes at most. The majority of patients report improvement within an hour, while some may experience symptoms for up to 24 hours. Signs of a TIA can include the abrupt development of stroke warning signs such as:

  • Face, arm, numbness, or leg weakness, paralysis, usually on a single side of the body
  • Problems communicating or understanding people due to slurred speech
  • Impairment of sight in one or both eyes
  • Disorientation, imbalance, or inability to coordinate

Multiple TIAs are possible, and the repeating symptoms can be the same or different from the first time around, depending on which part of the brain is affected.
