HME full form in medical term is Human Monocytic Ehrlichiosis, a usual infectious disease related to a group of conditions called Human Ehrlichioses. These could be caused by bacteria associated with the Ehrlichia group. The disorders are differentiated by similar symptoms, though driven by various strains of Ehrlichial bacteria.
Signs and symptoms of HME include headache, a sudden high fever, chills, muscle pains, fatigue and weakness after the first infection. People with HME may also experience vomiting, nausea, weight loss, diarrhea or confusion. In some cases, if human monocytic ehrlichiosis is not treated, patients may notice life-threatening signs like respiratory insufficiency and kidney failure.
Human Monocytic Ehrlichiosis is known to be happened by tick bites. If the disease is found in people, treatment should not be delayed. To treat HME, you should immediately consult a physician. They will prescribe you an antibiotic and other medications. However, there is no vaccine to treat HME, but try to avoid tick habitat. If left untreated, infection with HME can be serious, almost in every case. It is said that up to 1% of cases are fatal.
