It can be detected by the signs of having a sore throat that doesn’t go away. Other signs and symptoms include a lump in the mouth, neck, or throat, a white patch in the mouth, and coughing up blood. Unexplained weight loss is another sign of having OPC. Radiation, surgery, targeted drug therapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy are some ways to treat OPC.
There are various reasons for having Oropharyngeal cancer, which includes heavy alcohol use, history of smoking, history of radiation therapy to the neck & head, history of neck & head cancer, and being infected with HPV, especially HPV16.
