MDS Full Form in Medical term is Myelodysplastic Syndromes. MDS are a category of malignant blood illnesses characterized by a failure of bone marrow to create normal blood cells.

However, MDS can develop into AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) in some people. In AML, atypical cells multiply excessively and accumulate in the blood and bone marrow.

This is already a severe condition that frequently necessitates many blood transfusions. Blood transfusions are a tedious and limited procedure.

If a patient is healthy enough and has a compatible donor, a transplant of bone marrow is the only treatment option. The patient needs to be closely followed and given transfusions if needed for the months or years it could take for them to recover.
