What is The Full Form of MTB?

MTB full form in medical term is Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, which is a bacteria/germ causing TB. Tuberculosis is an infectious disease in which MTB spreads to your lungs or other tissue. In addition to the lungs, it can also affect other organs such as the kidneys, brain, or spine. The bacterium is spread from person to person through the air. People with TB can spread germs in the air by sneezing, coughing, singing, or talking, but the disease is not spread by sharing food, kissing, touching, or sharing dishes.

Types of TB conditions

There are two types of TB condition, including:

  • Active TB or TB disease – In this condition, people get sick from the TB bacteria. It can be entirely cured with antibiotics but be fatal if not treated properly.
  • Latent Tb infection – In this condition, the TB bacteria live in your body but don’t fall you sick.

Symptoms of tuberculosis

One can have TB bacteria in one’s body but cannot get sick from TB infection. Instead, they have latent TB infections. With active TB, if your immune system is weakened for some other reason, people can get sick. To avoid getting sick with active TB, you need to take medicines on time.
