The Mount Sinai Surgical ICU is a 14-bed closed ICU staffed 24/7 by Mount Sinai doctors of internal Medicine & Anesthesiology departments who are board qualified in their respective specialties. Specialists in Urology, Transplantation¸ Gynecology-Obstetrics, Vascular Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, and General surgery provide round-the-clock intense care at the (SICU).
The SICU has a rich history of innovative nursing care and uses a variety of nursing approaches. The SICU staff has the necessary skills and resources to deal with any situation that can compromise patient care or hospital operations.
Early planning for patients’ clinical needs and goals is a team effort including the entire SICU staff. Every day, they provide outstanding treatment to patients in critical condition, focusing especially on fostering open lines of communication between the interdisciplinary team, the patients, and their loved ones.
