It is a term used to describe the treatment given to victims of cardiac arrest, blocked airway or respiratory distress by medical personnel, emergency responders, and public safety officials. It needs familiarity with CPR, the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and the techniques for opening blocked airways in patients of all ages.
