Community health centers (CHCs) are patient-driven, nonprofit organizations that deliver healthcare in the community. Primary and preventative care is typically provided by CHCs to the medically uninsured, underinsured, and lower socioeconomic populations.
In areas where primary care is scarce, community health centers fill that void by providing access to basic medical services. In central & eastern Europe, policlinics are primary care clinics.
Medical care for locals is provided by CHC with the help of a group of local doctors and nurses.
